Workability and Sport Program

WorkAbility I (WAI) is a transition program for youth with disabilities with the objective of preparing students for competitive integrated employment. Students are provided a vocational assessment and employment/post-secondary education planning from the preparatory experiences. Students engage in activities, learning experiences, and are given strategies to increase career awareness. This provides students with work-readiness skills, connect the classroom to work, and engage in work-based learning experiences. Students are taught life skills curriculum that include crucial training in the use of community resources, domestic skills, money management, finding and maintaining housing, and identification of post-school support.

The goal is to have youth engaged in the process of developing themselves, learning self-advocacy, and self-determination skills that apply to the classroom and the community. Simply put, WorkAbility strives to provide students with opportunities to gain valuable work experience and seeks to create a platform for youth with disabilities to gain the skills necessary for competitive integrated employment in the real world.

SPORT-2 (Suicide Prevention Ongoing Resiliency Training)

In partnership with the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health and the Los Angeles County Office of Education-Center for Distance and Online Learning (CDOL) the SPORT2 Suicide Prevention Ongoing Resiliency Training has been created to address the ever growing problem of adolescent suicide.

The SPORT-2 Program provides high-quality professional development opportunity for administrators, counselors, school psychologists, school staff, and parents to learn more about aligning district practices and policies with AB2246, Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS), and Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS).

The goal being to reduce the number of preventable suicides and providing resources, training, and modules to those on the front lines.
